This is a General diagram for Laptop main Power suplay ,Open the schematic for the circuit you were checking .Adp+ main line will apear on Battery charger page on schematic and 5V ,3V will apear on 3_5V system on SMPS page .

Follow this simple Voltage flow on VALW section to requirement Power supply needs on General Laptop Motherboard...
This is a simple VALW section ,ADP+ (adapter voltage) flow started from VIN trought both P channel (power amplifier) and ended to Battery Fet .
Other ADP+ need are for SMPS input source and Upper N chanel side discreet componenst
VALW (Always Voltage / Power always there) to get the main line of the main voltage adapter 15V - 20V (depending on the features of the motherboard) and then processed by the DC / DC main power suplay regulator IC to be 3V and 5V.
Laptop motherboard requirements in order to live are VALW (15V - 20V) and 5V, 3V. one of power lost on the laptop motherboard will not be able to turn on.

Before discussing the Power (5V and 3V_ALW) should we understand the pathways 19V_ALW. Starting from Jack Power Adaptor sure incoming voltage by a voltage adapter. Voltage generally 19V adapter.

Make sure the voltage is present 19V_ALW for ic charger / Battery ic VCC for power above 19V. the

VALW the Power Always or major installations

Power used is DC (Direct current) DC voltage that is in use
19V 3.2A generally but there is also a 15V-20V (depend to the Laptop Band)
VALW installation Battery supply the regulatory arrangements in which the IC, ic battery sensor detects the current adapter (acin, ACDET) and confirmed to SIO to set the charging system on a laptop while using the adapter and the adapter when not using ic battery charge to divert distribution from the power supply adapter to the battery pack.
Ic battery also features the data collection on the battery pack so that the system understands when charging the battery is full and stop charging the battery ic.

Acin / ACEDET is important as the voltage sensor for ic voltage charger to pass adp fet, passed several resistor voltage 19V voltage scaled according to demand Battre ic. Standard voltage adapter to know we can see the curent sensor datasheet ic charger is concerned.This sensor detected over/low voltage and will block ADP+(adaptor Voltage) through CSIP (current sensor input positive) and shootdown the system by stoping ADP+ . The deferent Source Between ISL 6237 and RT 8223A are input source are ISL 6237 need ON_LDO for 9V to 15V to get output LDO 5V,RT 8223 don’t have this feature ,onces input Vin coming LDO comes out directly through VREG3 and VREG5 (output LDO) to activate SMPS enable trigger or EC_VCC or SLP_S5 to powered EC and Bios chip.
Almost All SMPS 32 pin usually have same feature with ISL 6237 and all SMPS 24 pin having
same feature with RT 8223.

TPS 51125 need ADP+ or adapter Vallue voltage source to power up the IC into Vin than LDO will comes out for 5V and sent to dual comparator and sent it back to the TPS 51125 to activate Enable signal or entrip1 and entrip2 to produces 3V and 5V to open each Upper/High N channel to open drain for 3V and 5V .

The main source input goes to VIN and EN_LDO pin than after both sources present ISL 6237 will produce LDO voltage for 5V ,this LDO usualy change the signal name to VL (Voltage linear) as an auxilary power to logic gate enable to enable EN1 and EN2 to activated ISL 6237.


RT 8223

RT 8223M(20=ED) is a marking code for RT 8223 smps power suplay .The main source supply same vallue with adapter main voltage to powered the IC trough VIN (pin 16) and than RT 8223 will generate VREG3 and VREG5 LDO output as auxilary power to enable 3V and 5V system and supply power sources 3V for Embedded controler and Bios IC
